Child Safety Policy – Online Tutoring
1. Commitment to Child Safety
I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and respectful online learning environment for all children. The wellbeing, dignity, and rights of children are central to all interactions and decisions within my tutoring practice.
This service is designed to support primary school–aged students in a way that promotes confidence, learning, and emotional safety at all times.
2. Experience and Screening
I have over 10 years’ experience working with primary school–aged children in a non-teaching role, during which I developed a strong understanding of appropriate, safe, and professional interactions with children.
I hold a current Working With Children Check (WWC) and comply with all relevant child safety and screening requirements.
3. Safe Online Environment
All tutoring sessions are conducted in a structured, professional online setting.
To ensure child safety:
-
Sessions are focused solely on learning-related activities
-
Communication remains age-appropriate, respectful, and supportive
-
No personal, private, or inappropriate topics are discussed
-
Sessions occur only at agreed times and through approved platforms
Where appropriate, parents or guardians are welcome to be present or nearby during sessions.
4. Professional Boundaries
Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times:
-
No private social media contact with students
-
No exchange of personal contact details beyond what is necessary for tutoring
-
No one-to-one communication outside scheduled sessions unless parent-approved
-
No recording of sessions without informed parental consent
All interactions are guided by the principle of transparency and child wellbeing.
5. Communication with Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians are encouraged to remain informed and involved. This includes:
-
Clear information about session structure and goals
-
Open communication regarding student progress
-
Prompt communication if any concerns arise
Any concerns relating to a child’s wellbeing will be handled sensitively and appropriately.
6. Responding to Concerns
If a child safety concern arises:
-
The concern will be taken seriously and documented
-
Parents/guardians will be informed where appropriate
-
Relevant guidelines and reporting obligations will be followed
The safety of the child always takes priority.
7. Ongoing Commitment
This policy reflects an ongoing commitment to child safety, ethical practice, and continuous reflection on best practices in working with children in online environments.
